Introduction
Students` creativity and imagination are much exploited here as they will be asked to go beyond the text and speculate on further action development or different approaches to the events in the books.
Learning Objectives
- - Encourage students to develop the reading skill;
- - Stimulate students` imagination and creativity;
- - Develop critical thinking, cooperative and collaborative skills in students
- - Exploit and develop students` digital and artistic skills.
Process
1. Students are put into groups of 3 or 4. 2. Each group decides upon a book to read in tandem over a period of one week. 3. During this time, each member of the group completes a reading diary; 4. Discussions are then held on whether they would like to continue the action/story of the book. 5. In class, students in each group are asked to discuss and imagine a different ending of the book they have just read and motivate their choice; 6. Students are asked to imagine and add a new chapter to the book by providing details of the main characters’` later actions; 7. Students are also asked to illustrate their work whether by drawing/painting or using an online app (e.g. using comics, Pixton Comic Maker, Story Jumper etc.) to make the chapter more lively; 8. Each group presents the outcomes in front of the other classmates who may ask questions or express their opinions on the final products.
