AN EVENTFUL YEAR FOR THE READTWINNING PROJECT
The last phase of the ReadTwinning project was full of events, organised by the different partners to tell and disseminate the project and its outputs. Opening the dances of the Connected Events, on 11th June 2022, was ProgettoMondo Mlal, which organised a workshop for families and educators at the Rifugio Novezzina, in the Province of Verona, Italy. The event "Between images and words. Books and reading to explore childhood. Methods and tools of ReadTwinning Project", attended by 43 participants, promoted a meeting with Lucia Cipriani, a librarian and passionate about children books and reading, which was followed by the presentation of the project platform for promoting tandem reading in families. The public was very involved in the presentation of the platform as a digital way to promote reading. They also considered innovative the idea of tandems to promote reading.
On 15th September 2022, the event promoted by the European University of Cyprus took place in Nicosia, Cyprus. The meeting was followed by the Multiplier Event in Cyprus, entitled 'The ReadTwinning Experience: Using technology to cultivate love for Reading'. Having the multiplier event immediately after the transnational project meeting provided the opportunity for partners to also participate, presenting authentic results to the general public and discussing with target audience. The event was attended by teachers, parents and members of the academic community.
Școala Gimnaziala "Constantin Parfene" organized on 26th September 2022 a Connected Events in Vaslui, Romania that brought together 22 participants: teachers from the schools, parents, students. All the activities developed during the event transmitted the idea of the importance of reading and rediscover the pleasure of reading at every age, promoting Readtwinning methodology and tools. The event, "The ReadTwinning experience Scoala Gimnazială "Constantin Parfene" started with an artistic programme of the students and continued with presenting the project methodology and results: the Guidelines, ReadTwinning platform and toolkit, ReadTwinning lesson plans, Blended Training Courses. A special section presented the ReadTwinning experience in Scoala Gimnaziala "Constantin Parfene" and in Agrupamento de Escolas de Vila Nova de Paiva, Portugal, including activities for promoting reading literacy as well asactivities of connecting students with the same interests. The main concepts of the projects included in the Guidelines as well as the Readtwinning platform and the ideas of practical activities presented were much appreciated by the participants: literacy, reading based on interests, reading tandems, guru, community for readers.
41 people, representatives of families, schools and also institutions, with the mayor of Vila Nova de Paiva, attended the event realised on 30th September 2022 by the partnerAgrupamento de Escolas de Vila Nova de Paiva. The event was dedicated to the presentation of ReadTwinning outcomes and outputs, with a specific focus on the Guidelines and the platform, explaining also how it works. Significant space was dedicated to telling the experience of the school partner with small examples of the work carried out under the project. The presentation was enriched by the speeches of direct testimonies from pupils, teachers and parents involved in ReadTwinning project. A strong focus was put on the platform as a new and innovative approach to promote reading, and the general opinion was that it is a good way to motivate young people to read, as they are more and more dependent on technology.
The last ReadTwinning Connected Event will be on Monday 31 October 2022 @ 16:30 CET (15:30 UK).The event is open to educators from across Europe and beyond. Pete Stevens, from the UK partner Gryd, will present the project methodology, social platform and other tools; and explain how you can use these with your students.
