Introduction
This lesson is to read and analyse a book about an event in Portuguese history entitled 'Naus do Verde Pinho' written by Manuel Alegre. Students should apply the knowledge they have gained in previous lessons.
Learning Objectives
- Para motivar os alunos a ler
- Aplicar conhecimento sobre o texto poético;
- Conhecer recursos expressivos.
Process
Before the class: Students view two videos about the voyage of Bartolomeu Dias and record the difficulties the navigator faced in passing the Cape of Good Hope. In class: Students present their conclusions about the videos they have seen at home. They then listen to the full reading of the poem 'Naus do Verde Pinho'. The teacher asks oral questions about the structure of the text (verse narrative) and about the elements of the narrative (characters, location in space and time, emotions and feelings of the characters, events). From some parts of the text, the students will be led to identify expressive resources. Students solve a quiz about their understanding of the text.
